Take Me Out to the Ball Game

What a perfect weekend!

Beautiful weather, one ball game, a wedding, 2 festivals and  the safe return of a Papa & a Nana...

Life is good. Very very good!

wait... did I say ball game?  Well, almost ballgame.

I got off early on Friday and had plans to just pup around,  maybe do a little shopping or go to the park with the babe.  The main idea was to get out of the house to let Mr. Daddy get some homework done.
After I got home and dressed the boy in his 1st official Cubbie T-shirt, a light went on in Daddy's head.

Let's take the boy to his 1st Spring Training game!!

What a FABulous idea!!

current time:  11:00  game starts:  1:05  travel time:  20 mins
Easy Peasy.

little side note for those non-baseballers:  This is Cubs Spring Training.  Spring Training in the valley is a huge deal.  People flock here from all over for these games, invading our streets, restaurants and highways.  We have 3 stadiums with in 10 minutes of our house.
again... this is the Cubs.  For all you Cub haters... a training stadium that holds 13THOUSAND people rarely does not sell out.
It's not about winning or losing... it's about supporting THEE Greatest Baseball team in history.

So... by the time we got SBR ready & loaded up, drove to the stadium, parked in the farthest (no joke, THEE FARTHEST) spot possible, walked to the box office, it was 1:15.
Yep... game. sold. out.
Well, sold out of seats at the price I was willing to pay for a pretend game.

Sorry, Kid.  This is just the first of many disappointments you'll experience as a Cub fan.

 Hohokam Stadium
eyes of wonderment

LIfe as a Cub fan.
We really do have the best time.

Next time, kiddo- I promise, Peanuts AND Crackerjacks!

Cock-a-doodle-do

Mr. Daddy spent 8 days on a short pilgrimage to Israel at the beginning of the month.
He came home showering us with beautfiul gifts and souvenirs, and.......  what can only be described as Germ warfare
Our home has been invaded for the last 2 weeks with the worst cold I think I have ever had!  Even one of the dogs got sick.  For realz.

Is this an excuse to neglect my 12 dedicated followers & a few silent ones?       um... yes?

So much has happened in the past 2 weeks...
Daddy goes away & comes back to a very talkative, babbling SBR.
He's fastly on the move- bear crawling,
and has been confident enough to try standing solo a few times.
 He turned 9 mos old!
He puckers up in theee cutest way for a kiss, but not for a photo.
He has the starts of his first top tooth,
is starting to sleep soundly through the night again,
and is almost out the doggie door.
He has tried:  sand, garlic pickles, butter cookies, DQ soft serve, dirty flip flops & faux plant dirt.  All of which he appeared to very much enjoy.
He sips his favorite cocktail of 1 part apple juice, 9 parts water through his big-boy-sippy-cup... with a straw!
And he had his first bloodshed (I think when he fell from standing his bottom tooth went thru his gums or tongue, MUCH more traumatizing for me, than him.),

You have to get up VERY early to keep up with this little rooster.

check back soonish for photos & video of the last few weeks!

Waterboy

SBR has proven he LoVeS water.

He loved swimming last summer,

& freaks with excitement when he hears bath water running.

He likes to splash the water in the dogs dishes...

...and this a.m.....

We were in the bathroom, you know where this is going...

At this point I don't know what we were doing in there... I had my watchfulish on him.  I did.
How else would I've noticed him standing at the toilet with a piece of wet toilet paper in his hand.... and mouth.

That. Just. Happened.

(disclaimer: it was 'clean' water, as clean as it can be from THE TOILET.  The toilet paper was what I had used from putting on my make-up.)

Hot Diggity Dog

I sent this pic to the G's (grandparents) this weekend.

My mom asked- 'Does he like playing with other kids?'

Answer:  mmm.... not really.

He doesn't like his personal space violated. He will stand there, like this, with another kid just fine, but if that kid gets near him... he will scream bloody murder like you wouldn't believe.  I thought maybe the kid had knifed him or something.

(side note:  Yes, while watching 5 kids at our church nursery on Sunday, I stopped to take a photo and share w/ the higher ups in our family.  Stop judging.  You will go to lengths for good blog material.)

SBR's best friends are his pups.  When they get in his personal space, he reacts much in the same way.

He's learning a lot from them:

When I was pregnant and oh so scared, I said:  If loving this baby will be as easy as loving the puppies, I'm set.

It's easier.
