Mah chile sick

SBR has been pretty sick the last couple of days.   It started with a fever (101.5) at our friend's house where we were having our bi-monthly home fellowship.  They have the most amazing, ingenious caged in room filled with toys.  Plop the kiddos in there, peek in every so often, life is good.  We love going there!
SBR was being unusually good, I was so proud inside, what an angel baby I have, he hasn't cried out once!  Meanwhile, his bestie was crying every 15 minutes for her momma.

Turns out... He wasn't feeling well, his bestie was probably bored with his lameness/ inattention to play with her, OR she was saying:  I'm going to get sick, people!  get me outta here!
Silly adults, we understand nothing!
(sets in horrible mother feeling- Too busy being 'proud' of her angel, neglecting to go in there at all, for fear he would cry to get out, all the while- he's sick!)

The next morning, luckily, Nana was coming to visit so daddy could get things done and go to a lunch meeting.  SBR was feeling awful.  No energy, cuddle bug, wouldn't eat or drink.  His temperature rose to 105.  They called the doctor and got an appointment, stat.
By the time they arrived to the pediatrician's office, his temp had dropped to 103.
Diagnosis:  double acute ear infection and acute throat infection.
Mi pobrecito!  (my poor baby)

I raced home after work to my precious son.  In all his adorableness, he cried when he saw me.  When our baby's sick, he can watch TV as much as he wants, so he led me to our bedroom to 'witsh.' (watch) I propped him up in pillows and he demanded "DOG!" (stuffed pup)  "MOOKS" (milk) Yessir!

At about 7:20 that night, he hopped off the couch, grabbed his Leece (blankie) and started walking towards the hall.
I said: Where are you going, buddy?
He replied:  Ni-night.
I said:  okay, I'll put you in bed.
and with an expression I'm sure you've all seen on my face more than once, he turned back and looked at me with all seriousness and much attitude and said "Mooks!" and stormed off to bed.
Demanding little sickboy with all his vocab now, isn't he??

Speaking of.... is that Leece in the bath?  why Yes.  It is.  Because of a tantrum to NOT have it in the bath thrown by SBR, and a Momma caving with her own tantrum and throwing it in there?
maybe.

So here we are... 3 days of anti-biotics down, he's eating more and more, drinking a ton (to our diaper changing dismay!) and right now, spending the day playing with his bestie.

(*if you're in the Valley of the Sun and listen to a little radio program in the morning- John Jay & Rich... Mah chile sick is a hilarious segment they have done, so it's been running through my head for days)

Happy Easter!

Our Easter was.... Good.

Mr. Husband delivered a beautiful and touching 5 minute message to the whole congregation at The Phoenix Korean Presbyterian Church.

SBR had much different plans than we did which made our plans and actions all but acceptable.
I could go on and on about his behavior, but then you would look at these pictures below and call me a liar.  Plus, after going through these pictures, I barely recall the 26 tantrums/ meltdowns.

Our Easter... in adorable, quiet, happy pictures.

Dying Easter Eve

Pretty egg displaying rack.  This is how we will leave them next year for the
Big E Bunny to hide.

YAY!!  we're done!!

Easter's Best!

Easter Bunny left tooo much candy (thanks, g-parents).
**No, he's not that tall, he's standing on a step stool.**

Easter Egg Hunting

More candy...

He didn't get the Easter Egg hunt at first.  He was the smallest one there, and the other kids took off to a different part of the play ground.  I would point out an egg and say... "Look, buddy, come get it and put it in your bag!"  His response was of exasperation, as if to say why do Iii have to clean up all this mess?  I didn't put these eggs here! and then he would throw the egg in the bag with force.  Once the other kids came around and he saw it was a game, he got a bit more competitive.

After a much needed nap, we headed to Nana & Papa's for an amazing meal of lamb chops and fixins.  The Sweet Sweet SBR I know and love returned around 7:30.  Just in time for a hug and kiss Ni-night.

We hope you all had a blessed and Happy Easter!

Hiatus

SBR has grown so much since Christmas.  I know, nearly 3 mos ago.

What has he been up to?

He's into closing all doors.
The front door we left open for air flow; the fridge door, while still in the fridge; the toilet seat (awesome!); cabinet doors; really every single door that is open regardless of need or reason.

If you're on Facebook, you probably know we are rarely bathing these days.
3 times, THREE, he has poo'd in the tub while taking a bath.  So now... I'm afraid to do it.  I can't handle it.  Not to mention the time consumed by sanitizing the toys!

His cowboy boots... they are a must, a demand, a tantrum if not put on fast enough.  And they go with everything.  Oh yes, they do.
PJ's, dress clothes, shorts, pants, no pants, whatever.

He pulls out every tissue of the box, to 'blow' his nose.

His vocab has taken off!  He will pretty much repeat anything we ask him to. (so far, not unless we ask)
He knows what most common animals say, and rather call them by name, he calls them by sound.

His favorite word is Nnnnoooo! nononononoo!  He is lucky he is SO adorable.
"Can you say Ni-night?"  NI-NIGHT NNNNOOOOOOO!

You really do learn a lot about your bad parenting when they start to talk.
he says: watch?  if he sees any TV, anywhere.
I said the other night:  here, watch Elmo while Mommy cooks dinner.... his little blue eyes light up... cooks?  COOKS??  no, buddy, while mommy makes dinner, no cookies involved here.

If you don't know him, his language can be confusing.
Help = Epple
Drink (of any kind) = Mooks
Thank you = Tik too
Amen= MAAaay-min
Leece = his blankie
Lala= Elmo

He also says Pwease, but only used when he really wants something.

And my favorite repeat:  can you say- Love you?
Moe-Moos.  Just. precious.

So the other night I said:  Buddy... you're going to be such a good big brother, can you say brother?  He looked at me quizzically and said... Nnnnoo!

There you have it folks....

So... I'm sorry, we have been on a bit of a hiatus... Momma's been tired!

he's kissing the sono pic :)

Moe- Moos!

Joy to the World

I love Christmas.
I love the hype.
I love the build-up.
I love the true meaning of Christmas.

I appreciate the stores putting up Christmas stock right after Halloween.
Ours is the house in the neighborhood that gives all the other guys the argument... Their lights are up!
To me it seems silly to not decorate before Thanksgiving.  All that work, all that transformation... it deserves to be enjoyed for 2 months.

This Christmas was awesome!  SBR does not quite get it. I think next year will be a little more exciting.
His big gift was the Cozy Coupe with trailer.   His reaction did not disappoint.  Having recently learned "car"- said "caw," it was perfect.

in car, out car, open present, in car, out car, open present.
while adorable, we had a lot of presents...

So after all the gifts are opened, stockings emptied, bellies full and heads sleepy, it's all over.  Thus,  I've come to the conclusion- my least favorite part of Christmas is Christmas night.
All the clean up, the tear down, the bareness. It's kind of sad, but, I'm already thinking of ways to do it bigger and better next year!

We hope you all had a very blessed Christmas!  We look forward to many adventures and memories in 2012!

Bye!!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

All month I've been reading Christmas books to SBR.  He's gotten very good at recognizing things and saying what they are in books.   Bird, ball, bebe, duck, etc.
He's also good at answering the question:  What does <insert something that makes sounds> say?
I've been pointing to Santa and saying his name outloud to get SBR to recognize him.  I try to point him out in stores and on movies, anywhere we see him.  All in preperation for this morning.

SBR has the biggest date of his life, thus far, today.  Breakfast with Santa.
The only thing we have going for us is his Papa resembles Santa on many levels.
Mr. Husband dressed like Santa for our church's Winterfest... SBR was not that pleased with his dadda being in costume, so back to zero.

I asked SBR the other day- What does Santa say?
He took this question very seriously, after a long contemplation, he held up his right arm with a claw like gesture and said "RaaaaAAaRRR!

I can't wait to hear how breakfast goes!

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family!  from across the country, We Love You!

There is only one reason to celebrate at Christmas.  We celebrate the life of our Lord and Savior.  Celebrate the gift that God has given to us all.  Please do not forget to reflect on Him, to remember all you have to be grateful for!

Here's to much Joy this Holiday season!!

Make a Wish

I recently read an article:
One of the things that caught my attenion is that toddlers do not have a concept of time.  So when they lolly-gag or mosey around, it really is to stall.  Because they are with one of their favorite people and they just want to soak up all they can.

This has helped me on our walks.  Now that SBR has the curious mind of a monkey, he can barely stand to sit in his stroller to get around the block before he is pleading, "Down?!"  So we've developed a routine- once we get back to our street, I get him out and let him walk down the sidewalk himself.

He stops to pick up leaves, point and meow at the neighborhood's 27 cats, hit a tree, pretend fall on his booty, pick grass, whatever his fancy.

This has taken our quick 15 minute walk around the block to about 45 minutes.
But, I no longer find this annoying.  He's an explorer, wanting to absorb everything he can in his surroundings while he enjoys my company.

These are precious moments.
